  • Pigeons, your days are Numbered

OMG! My training has paid off!

When we first got Dawn and Dusk, there was one task i would like them to help me as they grew up - chase away the darn pigeons! So when Dawn and Dusk were brought home from the Edmonton Humane Society, i would cuddle them and carry them to the balcony when there was a pigeon around and go "Pigoens bad. Pigeons must go away. Go chase pigeons!". Normally, they'd look at me then look at the pigeon. Look at me then look at the pigeon. And i swear the looks on their faces told me "Erm, mummy what are you saying? You know we don't speak human right? You crazy?" *grin* Well, 10 mins ago, Hubbie was sitting on the sofa reading the papers when i hear him say, "Oh wifey, you've trained them well.". Now, everytime i hear that, it usually means that either Dawn or Dusk has done something amusing or sillie.

So i turned around and what did i see? Dusk was crouched low on the floor, tail and butt wriggling, and he was clicking (signs of wanting to attack) while looking out into the balcony. So i walked quietly over to the balcony and low and behold there were 2 pigeons resting on the balcony railing! I don't know about you but i had 'Hallelujah' playing in surround sound around me and feeling like one big proud mama! *grin*

Can't wait till it is summer so i can have Dawn and Dusk on a leash out on the balcony.

    Don't say you haven't been warned....pigeons!

  • Definitly will be an interesting summer.  Can just see the poor babies out on the balconey on their leashes, Dusk sees the pigeon and slowly stalks close to his kill, the poor bird unaware of the killer battle cat on the balconey...tail at the ready, feet poised perfectly, muscles taunt and claws out and ready to shred some pigeon butt...Dusk holds his breath and tightens up his muscles and then springs in the air with a mighty battle cry and then....TWANG..the leash is at it's limit and he gets a startled choking and falls back on his furry little butt wondering "what the heck happened?" as the pigeon looks over at the wheezing ball of fur on the balconey with a look of 'soooooo, what you supposed to be?'

Definitly going to be an interesting summer.....

  • Haha for a moment I thought u kept hawks in your house.  I think airguns are a better solution to the pigeon problems though.
